Virginia State Police charged a Hampton woman with driving drunk on Thursday evening after she allegedly headed the wrong way on the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel and crashed into three vehicles, according to the Virginia Pilot. One of the collisions involved injuries to another motorist. A subsequent media report suggests that the driver might be underage. Another wrong way accident occurred at year’s end in the area. On December 30, a Norfolk motorist drove the wrong way onto Interstate 264 West, crashing head-on with another vehicle. Tragically, both drivers were killed instantly. The driver apparently plowed through the barriers meant to prevent drivers on I64’s reversible HOV lanes from entering oncoming traffic.
